Organizationally, Telekom Laboratories belongs to the central Product and Innovation division of Deutsche Telekom and is an integral part of the Group. It is simultaneously a scientific institute organized under private law and associated with the Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin). This concept promotes interaction between science and enterprise.
In joint projects with the TU Berlin, other partner universities and business partners, Telekom Laboratories is shaping tomorrow’s world. The institute’s location, right on the TU Berlin campus, also promotes close interaction.
In 2006, Telekom Laboratories established its first subsidiary institute at the Ben-Gurion University in Israel. This university outpost in Beer Sheva in the Negev Desert is called Deutsche Telekom Laboratories at Ben-Gurion University.
Now, more than 150 experts and researchers work in the Laboratories: 25 Telekom employees, 65 postdoctoral staff and around 60 postgraduates, research students and students from all over the world. They collaborate closely with business and international research establishments to engineer innovative solutions for simpler, faster and better communications.
One goal is to make Telekom Laboratories an internationally recognized research and development center for new information and communication technologies.
