The new electronic identity card planned by the German government will have improved security components and will enable electronic proof of identity. With this “citizen’s function”, e-Government and e-Business applications, such as opening an account, are quick and easy. The ePAIR project will present a first prototype for the “citizen’s function”. This activity is supported by the German Federal Office for Information Security and by the state of Baden-Württemberg, which is making its portal available for this project.
