Under the topic "Voice & Video disruption", T-Labs summarize the development of integrated communications and media services that are based on the inherent strengths of a telecommunications provider and take account of the progressive digitization. This includes the provision of communications services to our end users with cross-device user experience in exceptional quality, with a focus on video and browser-based communication. Current project in this area is Web-based Communication for example.
At the same time, these major IP-based communication services can be combined together with 3rd party cloud and media services. Furthermore in combination with an inexpensive mobile data access next generation carrier solutions at reasonable costs can be offered.
In addition, the integration of communication services for third-parties in any Internet and M2M service offerings should be made possible. The focus is on B2B2x business models and global markets. At the interfaces to the customers T-Labs work on the optimization of customer communication to minimize costs while improving customer satisfaction (e.g. within the project Convergent Self Care Solutions). The objective is an optimal service with intelligent handover between self-service and contact centers (e.g. DSL Hilfe App).
The range of topics also includes the development of next generation
media services and media platforms which
overcome the limitations of conventional media silos and reduce operating complexity at the same time. The delivery of asset-based offerings with integrated content, a cross-media user experience and personalized media cloud services represent the core of projects such as tolino tab (Media
Tablet), Social TV for Entertain. Furthermore, approaches to virtualization of media hardware (set-top box) are being evaluated with an eye toward drastically reducing operating costs and ensuring fast innovation cycles without manufacturer dependency by shifting functions to the cloud. These approaches form the core projects such as Virtual Set-Top-Box.
