Efficient production with load adaptive operation and SmartGrid, improved traffic models and management as well as load balancing is at the focus of this topic. T-Labs aims to develop solutions for converged networks. These enable seamless and access-neutral broadband communication across the globe - with best quality, optimized cost and ecological efficiency. At the same time, significant reductions of capital and operational expenditures can be realized.
To reach these goals, new service oriented traffic control instruments, such as a Telekom-controlled Content Distribution Network, will be created. New network structures will benefit from latest technologies. Overarching optimization and large-scale optimization tools will be used to improve the use of existing capacities. Monitoring and and control includes traffic measurement and traffic models, aided by simulation tools.
Within this key topic, projects for optimized network architecture such as IP-Optics and 100GET or Energy efficient ICT are already being implemented. Projects such as Next generation site concepts, Content Delivery Networks and TelcoCloud, Heterogeneous wireless access and Next generation self-optimizing networks look beyond the immediate horizon provided by the product roadmap.
