The goal of design research is to design technology products in such a way that they can be individually operated by different user groups.
Design as Interface
This is not simply about the design of the outward appearance, but a new design understanding. "We want to understand the nature of design and to better understand the language of objects," explains Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost. In the Design Research Lab, social issues such as security, privacy, health or ecology and their effects on design are being investigated.
User-centered
Starting points of each design decision are always the beneficiaries. "We know how to communicate well with words. My research is about how this knowledge can be made available for design and how it can be tailored to the needs of different user groups." In addition, the role of design as an interface between public spaces and information and communication technology is being researched.
